Rests are acceptable
Chin must be fully over the bar
The grip should be wide – hands wider than shoulders – using an overhand grip
Only full reps will be counted
Flow
The athlete starts next to the pull-up bar.
When the athlete is ready, they get into a dead hang position on the pull-up bar. Once they are ready the assistant responsible for timing/filming will say ‘Go’ and start the countdown.
The assistant should count the full reps out loud. Only full reps that meet the movement standards should be counted.
The athlete should be given a 10-second countdown by the assistant.
Video Rules
Video submissions must be unedited to accurately display and reflect athlete performance and not be shot with distorting lenses.
Sound should be on during the filming to hear clear counting of pull ups.
The athlete should have adequate space to safely complete the required movement and be clear of obstructions to ensure the video is clear.
The video should be shot from a 45-degree angle of the athlete and at a distance and height that always shows the athlete in full during the challenge. In the video these must be visible throughout:
1. Full body of the athlete including feet during the full attempt
2. The athlete getting into the dead hang position
3. Timer/clock
The video should begin with the full body of the athlete in shot stating their name then the athlete will need to follow the steps outlined below:
1. Show there are no straps, sticky substances, or tacky on their hands
2. Show the pull-up bar displaying nothing underneath to stand on
3. Show the pull-up bar, athlete and timer in full view to the correct filming angle
4. The timer should be set and ready to count down in seconds from one minute once the athlete has reached the dead hang starting position.
5. The athlete can then start the challenge based on the outline/rules above
The above steps above should be completed with the camera continuously running. Failure to follow these steps lead to the submission being rejected.
