Commercial Power Racks:

Commercial Power Racks have an upgraded specification compared to typical home racks. They are designed for heavy use and can handle more weight. They may have more accessories, but fundamentally, they are heavier duty racks to withstand the vigour of commercial use.

Commercial Rigs:

Commercial Rigs can take a range of configurations thanks to their modular design. Rigs are typically not practical for home use and are designed for heavy commercial use. They often have additional bays and accessories attached.

Difference between power racks and rigs:

The main difference is that a rack refers to a singular item, while a rig has a larger configuration and can often be connected with multiple bays. Rigs are ideal for optimising space and running functional fitness classes - Which is why they are so popular in commercial spaces.

Here are some key differences:

- Height: Rigs are generally taller than power racks.
- Modularity: Rigs are modular, so you can add as many sections as needed, while Racks usually have just one squat area. Rigs can support more than one user within the unit and can easily be expanded with additional bays.
- Versatility: Rigs can be built to fit your gym's training style and the number of people you train at once. They are ideal for Small Group Physical Training (SGPT) and functional fitness spaces.
- Attachments: Rigs provide a variety of fixed and removable accessories, such as pull-up bars, gym rings, and suspension trainers. They are more focused on group work, so you are likely to see multiple attachments on one system.
- Weight capacity: Power racks for home use generally hold 200–350 kg, while those in commercial gyms can hold more. Please refer to the individual specifications as they vary based on the the range of each Rack and Rig.
- Location: Rigs are most commonly found in commercial settings, but you can also put one in your home gym if you have the space and ceiling height.

Similarities

With similar functionality as you might expect some of the accessories and attachments are common on both, here are some popular attachments for both.
