Single arm clean and press with a Mirafit Kettlebell

Kettlebells are exceptionally versatile, and great for getting your blood flowing, heartbeat racing and muscles growing. Not only can they be found in most gyms, but they are also perfectly suited to a home gym due to their minimal space requirements and the sheer volume of exercises they allow you to perform.

Kettlebells are perfect for both strength and cardio training. You can quickly transition between cleans, snatches, presses, squats, and deadlifts to build strength and increase muscular endurance in your whole body, whilst encouraging high intensity with reduced rest periods to build your cardio.

This efficiency, plus the compact space requirements, make them the perfect companion for HIIT, circuit training, pump classes, and about any workout that combines gains in strength and cardiovascular endurance in a limited amount of time. These workouts often also incorporate a brief period of bodyweight exercises with a cardio focus such as marching, high knees, jogging on the spot, star jumps, press-ups, or burpees.

With kettlebells, especially in strength/cardio focused circuit training, you can go at your own pace, without needing to swap equipment type or remove plates, making it suitable to every gym-goer with varying levels of ability.

Strength, Conditioning and Cardio Kettlebell Workout

Single Arm row with a Mirafit Kettlebell

The below workout is a perfect blend of strength and conditioning, using the kettlebell for a quick and effective workout that should be achievable in around 30 minutes.

Aim to perform 3-4 rounds of the circuit, with 60 seconds rest between each round. If you struggle, or are new to this type of training, you can increase your rest period to 90 seconds to ensure you make comfortable progress and use correct technique. Our model is using an 8kg Kettlebell, you should select a kettlebell weight that allows you to hit the target rep-range while still being challenging, or pick an Adjustable Kettlebell that allows you to have several weights in one piece of equipment.

Between each exercise, complete 30 seconds of high knees, to add a bodyweight cardio hit, and allow your muscles a little reset time.
