  1. 5 kg plates

I purchased two of these about a month ago and put them in a small backpack. They fit perfectly they are great for daily 40 min rucks as well as extra weight for push-ups and squats. Definitely getting in shape.
  2. Perfect

Good idea to buy a weigh to my bergen. Definetly changing my life and fitness level.
  3. Essentially just a lump of metal, yet brilliant for rucking and general fitness.

If you are new to rucking, or an old hat, these plates might be just the ticket. I have been tabbing, British Army term rucking, or Yomping RM variant, for many years now. The one thing I hate the most is carrying dead weight on my back. Dead weight is what the military class as something out of place in you burgan, an item which causes an imbalance with your posture. For example, if you use bags of sand as weight, or bricks, you need to ensure that they are packed to support stability on your back. A burgan which weighs 2kg or more on one side, over distance, will cause you to twist your body out of shape to compensate for the weight distribution. This will lead to damage and unnecessary pain. It is essential the weight is properly distributed and as close to the body as physically possible. These plates offer this - They are a good shape, low profile and do not overhang; a large bag of sand or bricks can pull you backwards = overhang. They also fit nicely into most water reservoir compartments. This keeps the weight in place and very close to your body. I would strongly suggest purchasing a decent burgan, one made of Cordura material if possible. It goes without saying that lumping around 10 or 20kg of cast iron needs a well-made bag to keep it on your back and in one place; the 1000D Cordura, Sarma TST CP10 Mini is the one I use for 10kg plates. Anything larger, 15 – 20kg, I suggest looking at the Berghaus Munro or Crusader series of bags; in black of course, military colours can attract some odd looks around town. If you have delicate shoulders or new to rucking it is always good to protect them from the inevitable ‘strap rub’. I suggest looking at buying a good rugby training top which tend to have padded shoulders; very nice 80’s power look. Canterbury VapoDri Raze Glex Vest is a good option, they can also be picked up very cheap. I like to wear a t-shirt over the top for added protection. All in all these are a great investment and will last for more miles than you can possibly ruck in a lifetime. They are also a great alternative to kettle bells for general weight exercises. Good luck and happy rucking.
