Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a belt squat machine compared to barbell squats?

A belt squat machine lets you train your legs with the load positioned around your hips rather than across your shoulders. This can reduce stress on the upper body and lower back while still allowing heavy lower-body training. Many users choose belt squats to focus on quads and glutes while minimising spinal loading.

Is a belt squat machine better for people with lower back discomfort?

Belt squats can be a useful alternative for lifters who want to reduce upper-body loading during leg training. Because the weight is attached to a belt rather than resting on your shoulders, many users find them more comfortable than traditional barbell squats. Individual results vary, and anyone with injuries or medical concerns should seek professional guidance.

Which muscles does the Mirafit Belt Squat Machine work?

The primary muscles worked are the quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings. Your calves and core also help stabilise the movement. Foot placement can shift emphasis slightly—for example, a narrower stance may increase quad focus while a wider stance can recruit more glutes and adductors.

Can beginners use a belt squat machine?

Yes. Belt squats can be suitable for beginners because the movement removes the challenge of balancing a barbell on the upper body. Users can start with lighter weights and gradually increase resistance as technique and confidence improve.

What weight plates can I use with this belt squat machine?

The Mirafit Belt Squat Machine is designed for 2-inch Olympic weight plates and bumper plates. The machine also includes storage poles to keep plates organized between workouts.

Does the Mirafit Belt Squat Machine include a belt?

Yes. The machine includes a heavy-duty nylon belt and connection chain, so you have what you need to begin training. Replacement belts are also available.

How much space do I need for a belt squat machine?

The Mirafit Belt Squat Machine dimensions are 136cm deep x 203cm wide x 119cm tall. Before purchasing, make sure you have room for the machine footprint and enough surrounding space for loading plates and moving comfortably during workouts.

Can taller or shorter users use the belt squat machine?

The machine includes adjustable settings, including multiple start positions and depth adjustments, allowing users to tailor the setup for different heights and squat preferences.

How do I set up the correct belt squat position?

Start by adjusting the chain length and machine settings so that you can squat through a comfortable range of motion while maintaining a stable stance. The included handrail can provide support while getting into position.

Are belt squats good for building leg muscles?

Belt squats can be effective for lower-body strength and muscle development because they allow you to train your legs hard while reducing upper-body fatigue. Many lifters use them as either a replacement or a supplement to traditional squats.

Is this machine suitable for home gyms?

The Mirafit Belt Squat Machine is designed for home gyms and light commercial environments such as personal training studios and similar facilities.

I don't usually leave reviews. However, I bought this Mirafit belt squat machine afew months ago, when I was kitting out my garage as my new "home gym". I'm a taller guy, 6ft1, and although I've been training many years now, an put on close to 100lbs of mostly lean tissue in that 20 years + of training, I've never really felt I'd made adequate progress on my legs. I did the classics, and always did my squats each week. Although my strength did gradually progress, I always felt the back squat hit alot of my back and glutes. It also had a stimulus to fatigue ratio that ultimately I felt wasn't working well for me. For the last 5 months or so I've been using this piece of kit. From my very first set I was in love with this machine. It totally hits my quads and I really do feel like I've been working my legs properly for the first time in my life, without killing my back, or my nervous system. I know that sounds a bit intense, but for someone who has lived weightlifting for over 2 decades, and who knows a thing or two about different types of machines and how everything effects my body, I really am very impressed with this machine. For the price it seems very well made. I'm able to do a sort of donkey raise for my calves on it, and also use a wide grip lat bar and set it up to do stiff-legged deadlifts for my hamstrings...which also feels great. So it's a very versatile bit if kit. And it's great to be able to store half of my plates at the back. I hope anyone else who might buy this enjoys it as much as I do. Best of luck. 10/10.
